Emphasizer

Want to highlight something on screen in Final Cut Pro, but not sure where to start?

Emphasizer makes it easy.

Drop one title on your clip and drag the box over what matters. Emphasizer frames it, blurs and darkens everything around it, and zooms in, all in a few clicks.

On-screen controls, built-in animation, and full control over blur, darken, outline and glow.

Simple controls

  • On-screen controls: drag to move the box, use the handles to set the width and height

  • Build in and build out, already animated

  • Background: separate Blur and Darken controls, so you decide how much of the frame stays visible

  • Shape: Height, Width, Feather and Roundness, for square or rounded corners and hard or soft edges

  • Outline: on or off, solid or dashed, with colour and width

  • Glow: amount, radius and threshold, for a glowing edge

What you get

One Final Cut Pro effect under the "BW - Emphasizer" category in the Title Browser.

Compatible with FCP 10.6.4 and above

Who it's for

Anyone who records their screen: tutorials, software walkthroughs and course lessons. It also makes one part of a graphic pop out, and picks out a detail in your footage.

The box stays where you put it. It doesn't track a moving subject, so it's built for screens, graphics and locked-off shots. You can however, keyframe the position if you need to.

See the difference

Drag the slider to compare the original vs. the shot with Emphasizer applied.

Three ways to use it

Screen recordings

Box a menu item, a button or a checkbox. The rest of the frame goes soft, so the viewer stops scanning and looks straight at the one thing that matters.

Graphics

Turn off the outline, the glow and the blur, and one part of a chart, slide or list pops up out of the graphic.

Footage

Box a detail in a wide shot and push in. Shoot in 4K, deliver in 1080, and there's room to zoom in without the shot going soft.
