In this video, I go through every control, from the handles in the viewer to the 3D tilt and the glow effects.
Animator, as an effect and as a title, in its own BW - Animator category
Handles in the viewer for A and B: grab the centre to move it, drag the ring to scale it, swing the dot to rotate it
Shift snaps scale to tens and rotation to 15 degrees, double-click resets a handle, and Command-click opens a menu of common values
Smooth by default: the move eases out of A and settles into B, with overshoot, elastic, bounce and more a click away
Master Scale and Position Offset to adjust the whole move after A and B are set
3D tilt on both points, and a proper back side when your logo turns over
Outer Glow, Inner Glow, Stroke and Drop Shadow that follow your logo through the move
A tidy Inspector: the main controls first, with Advanced Controls and Effects under headers you open when you need them
Requires macOS 13 Ventura or later and Final Cut Pro 10.6.9 or later
Anyone who animates logos, titles and graphics in Final Cut Pro, from YouTube intros to client work. Use the effect on a single clip, or the title above a stack of clips to animate everything underneath, like an adjustment layer.
It animates between two points, A and B. Switch between A to B and B to A, to create more complex movements.
Animator is included in ProAnimate 3 as a free update, so you don’t need to buy it again. Log in and download the new ProAnimate installer from your account.
Want the full set? ProAnimate 3 includes Animator plus 283 keyframeless presets, for $89.
Quit Final Cut Pro
Download the DMG file and double-click to open it
Double-click the installer and select “Install”
Leave the Animator app in Applications > BW Plugins. It runs the on-screen handles and the Advanced Controls and Effects sections, so the installer puts it there and opens it once.
Open Final Cut Pro and go to the Effects Browser or the Titles Browser
Look for the BW - Animator category and drag Animator onto your clip, or the title above a stack of clips
